Shade strategy, lawn recovery and native understorey.
Challenge
A worn quad used for assembly, with compacted soil and trees that had been topped for years.
Design
Circulation pinned to desire lines, soil decompaction, a native understorey that can take foot traffic at the edges, and a stop to topping in favour of proper pruning.
Result
Assembly still works on the lawn. Shade improved within one growing season and the street edge reads as a campus.
