What to plant before the monsoon

Trees and large shrubs generally establish better when the soil is opening with rain — if drainage is sound. Waterlogged clay plus a new tree is a drowning, not a planting.
Hold tender indoor arrivals out of storm splash. Stake young trees before the first big wind, not after.
After planting, weed and check ties. Monsoon growth hides a loose stake until the tree leans.
